Volume Pricing on Large Jobs
Jobs over 1,000 lf receive volume pricing. A 3,000 lf high-tensile perimeter fence on a 50-acre property typically runs $36,000–$60,000 installed — significantly less per foot than residential work. We quote large jobs on-site with a written breakdown.
Why Stag Build Co. for Farm Fencing
Acreage Pricing — Not Residential Rates
We price farm jobs differently. Large linear footage means lower per-foot cost. We quote the whole job, not just the easy parts.
Corner Bracing & Gate Engineering
High-tensile and woven wire live or die on corner bracing. Our crews build proper H-brace and diagonal brace assemblies that hold tension for decades.
Rocky Terrain & Slope Experience
Berkeley County and Frederick County VA both have rocky Shenandoah soil. We carry rock auger bits and quote a rock clause upfront — no surprise charges.
Farm Gates & Drive-Through Access
16-ft and 20-ft tube steel farm gates, swing or slide. We build gate posts to handle the weight. Walk gates, corner gates, and H-frame entries available.

Farm Fence FAQs
What's the most cost-effective fence for a 10-acre horse property?
For horses, we recommend 4-rail board fence on the perimeter visible from the road (curb appeal + safety) and high-tensile wire for interior paddock divisions. This hybrid approach typically runs $22–32/lf blended across the whole property and looks sharp.
How do you handle rocky ground in the Shenandoah Valley?
We quote a rock clause on all VA jobs: if our auger hits shale or ledge rock, we add $8–15/lf for the affected run. We tell you upfront before breaking ground. In WV, rocky conditions are less common but we carry the same equipment.
Can you fence a 50-acre property?
Yes. Large acreage is our specialty. A 50-acre square perimeter is roughly 3,700 linear feet. We've completed projects up to 12,000 lf in Berkeley County. Larger jobs get volume pricing.
Do you install electric fence energizers and poly tape?
Yes. We install complete electric fence systems including solar energizers, AC energizers, poly tape, poly rope, and step-in posts. We also install permanent electric wire on existing fence lines for added security.
What permits are required for agricultural fencing in WV and VA?
Agricultural fencing on rural land typically does not require a building permit in either Berkeley County WV or Frederick County VA. We verify for your specific parcel before starting. Fencing along road right-of-way may require VDOT or WVDOH coordination.
